I am a multi-disciplinary artist based in the Midlands with a focus on lens-based mediums and analogue processes.
By exploring the contemporary and historic boundaries between science and science-fiction, anthropological and nature studies, and contemporary art theory I aim to propose, establish and interrogate a fictioned future epoch The Promittocene.
Topics such as UFO sightings in the West-Midlands, Apollo 11 conspiracy theories, calibration of scientific apparatus and the 21st century race for Space dominance are themes that have featured prominently in my practice.
In 2017-2019 I represented FORMAT International Photography Festival as an artist for the first cycle of the Parallel Intersection Programme - I exhibited in various locations across Europe; Lisbon, Lodz Fotofestiwal, OrganVida Photo Festival and PhotoLondon 2019. I have been Artist In Residence at Wolverhampton University, Artcore and QUAD in Derby. I have been awarded various funding awards, most recently ACE Developing Your Creative Practice, resulting in a major solo show as part of FORMAT23 at the partner venue Wireworks Project. Previously I have also taken part in the GRAIN/FORMAT East Meets West Masterclass programme, resulting in a group show at Derby Photo Fringe alongside FORMAT19.
I have taught at further and higher education levels at a variety of institutions across the country, and currently hold an associate-lecturer position at the University of Derby. I have also facilitated various arts and photography workshops, producing two projects with young students and SEND workshop participants for Young FORMAT23.
In 2020 I was awarded the FORMAT20 John E Wright Portfolio Award, and shortlisted for the FORMAT21 festival programme.
